The Musing Well

I dropped a coin into the musing well And heard the ping … the well was dry And thinking I couldn’t write for a spell, How I responded is quite difficult to tell My spirit, generally upbeat, slowly fell, Disappointed, I let out a despondent cry I dropped a coin into the musing well And heard the ping … the well was dry.

Oh my dear...it is more often than you might realize. But, I have several techniques I use to kickstart my muse. Yours, on the other hand, never is dry.

I cannot imagine your well running dry Milt. I think you'd just drill a new one. :) Linda

Oh my, Linda, about two or three times a month I convince myself that I cannot write poetry and that I should move on to bigger and better things. This happens when I can't think of a single thing to write about. It always goes away in a day or two. I think it's fairly common with writers.

Stay away from dry wells (such as devices) that go 'ping.' 'Just sayin,' cos' I don't own or want to own a smartphone...

Hmmm...notice it is a metaphor, gw...a metaphor for my muse running dry. It happens to us all from time to time.
