The Moment You Make It

More a work in progress or thought depository item, but I like it enough to post There's something very interesting About the overlapping of lives The impressions left Leaving your mark But not your name in lights Or in any books Like flashes of memories I came home from school to my Nanna's As it was nearer school And my Nanna had built a den for me Out of my Auntie's maiden and a sheet As I came round the side of the house It came into view And I'd never seen anything so magnificent! It was furnished too A bin had been turned upside down For a table And there was a cushion for a seat I try to recreate things like that sometimes For my girls I've battled with bamboo canes And sparkly material and pegs The special blanket Samson used to love And some giant old cushions I hope it's better than the fancy ones Today I've bought oil paints, scrapers and card With the idea we'll be abstract artists Like a YouTuber tried on her Friday special And I won't go down in history As the best ever But one of these memories Will imprint to be something more And it'll pass forward *Wooden device for drying washing *Samson our cat who died in 2020

This is great. Those kinds are the best memories, nothing fancy needed just the fun of a fort with some blankets or an empty box. This certainly kicks up the nostalgia!

Glad you posted it. I love it. The kind of things that children remember.

Thanks Wen, I love that memory of the den and wanted to weave it into somewhere. We've just completed our abstract art. I have quite a bit of cleaning to do and a lot of the pictures are brown due to over blending of every colour :D
