The Midnight Hour

The midnight hour has come on silently; along with it, a blackness has come creeping - a presence I can barely hear or see. The midnight hour has come on silently and my soft sweet cat lies down close to me and purrs a lullaby till I’m sleeping! The midnight hour has come on silently. Along with it, a blackness has come creeping.

What started off as a shivery, dark write turned into a sweeter picture. Do I see a purring cat or midnight lover?! ~ Congrats on this lovely win. // paul

Nicely done, Andrea. Reminds me a little of Carl Sandburg's poem "Fog."

I loved the mystery in this, and the way that you teased the reader's mind into thinking that this was something more sinister! A fantastic poem, Andrea! Congratulations on your win!

In so few lines, such emotion captured. Cats possess a "knowing" we can speculate but never fully understand. They speak to us...if we will only listen with our subconscious mind and our heart. A beautifully stylized, captivating write, Andrea.....YF....Gene.
