The Lonely Heart

The evening sun was cool as it plucked the long string of the horizon before my dark night moved slowly through leaving my emptiness shackled to the motion of caressed silence For you did not come...You did not come and I was alone feeling each delicate flower fall away from my hands covering the ground with the scent of fragrant red petals tumbling into the darkness My eyes raise to the barren landscape of tomorrows drowning from each tear that falls upon its sands where I clasp my chest trying to suffocate the cries of a beating heart before stumbling into time's windblown dunes that will cover my footprints as I disappear into the dark vast desert of loneliness 9/23/18 ( not for Desert contest )
