He stumbled, and climbing painfully heard echoes reverberate hauntingly, as if to mock his existence. A lifetime's singular occupation, yet not lonely- -all those at sail his children, but "The Keeper of the Flame" now obsolete, replaceable, insignificant weary, exhausted, the flicker became eternity

Thx Shadow, but the analogy speaks of life in general and the sad reality of something becoming obsolete including ourselves; Lighthouses were forever lit by actual flames then electrical and now digital----no need for keepers that live there for quite some time----and it is not the end of obsolete nor the end of new, which will also at some point become obsolete.
