The Life We Choose

Life asks so much of who we are. Demanding attention, for all that we do. We can stay near, we can go far, Who makes the decisions, it or you? Our lives can be full of beauty and song. It can also be empty and still. We are always faced with, is it right or wrong? How much is required, how much is free will? Life can lead us to many things, many places. Some of them may be where we want to go. But others, we are only there to fill up spaces. When we get there lets hope we will know. In life, one thing leads to another, happens all the time. We get so focused, we forget what we were to do, so we have to start over, clear our mind, or we further confuse ourselves and not have a clue. Making mistakes along the way, not an unusual thing. Some we add to our burden, and take them along. Better to decide what to take, what to bring. Too bad we can't will them away, and find them gone. Life can be what we make of it, that's found to be true. It is usually up to us, to live how we choose. But circumstances may take the choice away from you. The end result, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

They say our life path is already mapped out and we just follow it. Your last line sums it up though. Enjoyed your verse Sandra. Tom.

A poem within a poem,Sandra, and if we could answer this, life would seem a lot less confusing: "Our lives can be full of beauty and song. It can also be empty and still. We are always faced with, is it right or wrong? How much is required, how much is free will?" I wish I had the answers to this question, I wish we all did. And you are correct, circumstances deals us all her own cards. Well-written my friend. Profound.

Thank you, Caren, things have led me to reflect on my life, it hasn't been easy. But if I can gain any insight into putting things in perspective, it is worth it.
