The Last Mile

In the dynamic landscape my vibrant life carves the paved pathway that meanders with time’s trail, tracing the wheels’ imprints fading in the future far, I must traverse at a desired pace destiny will decide. Many streams in spate I’ve swam in surging squalls with budding desires sheltered in heart lest they sink, as winged dreams have drifted away chasing butterflies, flittering in the rippling air in the verdant valley. In chilly night a warm niche in embrace she gives me, at dawn in my pasture the yearning dew sparkles, I see. Dancing with the rustling leaves’ cadence in my garden the purple sun’s sneaking streaks wrap me with rapture. The spent sun sinking at the twilight edge makes me sad, as at dusk I can’t find the remaining path I must travel. In the falling night I’ll reach where the time’s track ends, the residual final steps are uncertain walking the last mile.
