The Land of Normal

To the Land of Normal I long to go - a place I took for granted in my youth, where pain and sorrow rarely did I know. I don’t like much the land of my new truth. Here winds of uncertainty often blow. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to go back to the Land of Normal. There spring flowers bloomed. Is there some passageway I might go through to lead me far away from feeling doomed? Such pathway I would eagerly pursue! Oh, to feel again upon my face the Land of Normal’s sunlight streaming down - its beams so very bright they could erase the woes in which in my new world I drown - now banished from my youth’s far sweeter place! I saw a "WHY BE NORMAL" bumper sticker on a passing car....it was UPSIDE DOWN.....love this treatise on the vagaries of life.

At least we have our memories as a guide post back to that "sweeter place" when this insane craziness ends! I do believe it will end and we will have an appreciation of "normal" like we have never had! Congratulations on your win my friend!

wish I could believe that. If kennedy Jr and the others trying to convict certain world leaders for how they created hysteria over something not really a pandemic are able to overcome the puppet masters, then maybe things can be set right.

Sorry, Andrea. I meant a sense of innocence of our youth. Mike

Good going Andrea. It looks like you mastered a complex form of poetry. I hope that we can experience the innocence of our your every now and then.

I don't believe the end of the world is near. but there will be changes definitely. We do right to yearn for normal times past, or a utopia, but the new world may very well lack all electronics. Personally I pray we get rid of this virus and maybe we will find ourselves back to normal. ~~

Wish I had your belief, but I have learned too many things, Victor. It's not about the virus. That was just a way to get people indoctrinated to what is coming. Thanks for reading and commenting.

I think maybe life as we knew it won't ever be the same. I think it has changed forever. In fact this could be the beginning of the end. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

yes, we are in the beginning of the end. I pretty much believe that. Also this poem is a metaphor for my physical health and the condition Big Pharma has left me with.

Reading this right after "Childhood With My Siblings" presents quite a contrast. The pure innocence of the other one shines a light on the grown up shadows and woes of this one... kind of a bookends of life pairing. These shadows are the very ones we try to shield our kids from, knowing they will have to deal with them soon enough. Excellent writing.

We would have to go back in time before Rockefellers came to the world. At least in my youth, there was still sanity.
