The Kitty Rainbow

My dear cat, bone-thin and frail from not eating, lies calmly on a cold steel table.

I talk to her, petting her for the last time as they prepare her for the injection.

Next turned sideways, her little head rests on my hand as the needle goes in.

My tears spill as the nurse softly tells her, "Go to the Kitty Rainbow."

Oh, Godshhh - got me. I wish I could say I've never experienced such because such is an emotional experience I'll never forget. Their final moment is a sobbing, heartbreak, a grieving pain well worth the love they gave and left with us. There should be bereavement days from employers for pets, pets are family. Emotional, you made me ... Love ... CayCay

Congratulations, Andrea. I believe I commented earlier, I have stood at thes tables fourteen times. Plus Riding in a car with a dying cocker spaniel gasping for breath. I can tell you are a loving person! Kittens and older cats need to be rescued when you are ready. Your cat is at Rainbow Bridge, waiting for you one day to hug him again.peace be yours, Panagiota

As a fellow fur-mom, I totally feel this one. I've been through this with two of my precious babies (both dogs)... and it still breaks my heart thinking about it. So sorry, my friend. *hugs*

I have had to do this with several pets as I have rescued over twenty from shelters. It is horrible every time, even though I believe they go to greet us when we get there. Nicely done, Andrea.

G'day Andrea … as sad as it gets when a decision is made to put a beloved pet down. There in our mind we debate whether it is right or wrong - very sad Andrea - Lindsay

Such an emotional sad verse Andrea, like Vijay we had to have our spaniel put down so I know how you are feeling, but when they're not well it is the kindest thing to do for them but it is heart-breaking. Tom.
