The Joy of Being In Grade School

On warm Autumn days , on a circular rug we sat, But kids avoided, being near, dearest, "Fat Jack!" Indeed~he was quite a rotund fellow. With a tummy that shook like fresh made jello! I am hoping that we never hurt his feelings. Such a delight Jack was, that kept us all reeling! Teacher passed out fresh cookies, just after that. We snuggled on blankets, purring like contented cats! 10/8/2021

Seems 'Fat Jack' had already adopted his defense mechanism. He was 'Fat and Jolly;' Mr. Good Humor. That way he could ward off any hurtful comments, which I imagine he got (from some quarters, anyway). ~ gw

We had a friend. He was called Fat Richard but was in no way adipose. We loved him, he grew up to be a hunk. Woo Hoo. I guess fat is a term that pushes Poets buttons? This was not a poem on weight. We insult Republicans here and thatsOK.?We insult our country too. And all cheer? I think that’s gross. You never taught kgn, I see. I cannot list the names kids are called,obscene. Bar talk. Hi. Not talking about school shootings. I mean teacher abuse by students in some schools....A well kept secret. SNIPERS wait for teachers in some schools. Or they shoot into principals offices. Again, I was writing about a nice afternoon where kids and teachers got along. Joe DeMino got the point. Had zero to do with weight. I suppose the cartoon Fat Albert is evil?the USA is quite overweight now. Being heavy invites Covid.but the government keeps that a secret? That’s evil. Pangie

Also on a school bus the bus drivers have no control over the passengers and the victim. Just stopping the bus and yelling at the person that is in the wrong.Hugs.

Hello Panagiota, yes I have heard of the violence in the schools. I have heard of shootings in schools to. Yes even when i went to school there was violence going on. Abuse with words to. Adult or a child they abuse the victuim with buse words.

I have to differ Darlene, Parents overfeed their kids in the USA, and some let them eat all day, the point is this was not a weight story. These kids liked Jack no natter what! Their is a lot of emotion in the poem about togetherness, sharing. A story,The closeness of pupils accepting Jack. a he was, the joy of hearing a story,and napping, read it again.Panagiota ^^You would not believe the obscene language kids use Toward one another. Gross words! You would faint. This scene was calm and idyllic. Kids swear. You would. Faint. Some kids are violent,teachers get beaten noses brokebn by kids, purses are stolen. City schools are the worst. I have been shot at also. End ofstory. Pangie

I dislike the word FAT so much that I wish it was banned from the English language. It has hurt so many children who did not ask to be corpulent. This poem reminded me of how much I dislike the word, but it also reminded me of how contented I was also in kindergarten. Nicely done.

I agree on tbe word. However take a look at our roly poly society. Far from normal. To calm you down, some...this was a fictional story based on my years in school. I cannot list the names kids are called ...gee...I was not attacking obese kids.in the story, nor were they, they loved Jack sorry I offended you. Plenty poems here offend me! As you said it was about Kgn. Nice to see you CAREN, Bow take a nap, and cream of Kgn days, an!)) Pangie

Very cute. Gave me a well needed chuckle. When we are very young, it seems, fat, thin, rich, poor, R, D, does not matter to one another. Important are the cookies and snuggling. I think, many today, would actually like to even crawl back into the womb, till a brighter birthday. But we can't hide. Sadly. The wailing of our heirs would shake us from the boughs of heaven...down to bowels of hell.

Prince de Mino! I first called you “Prince “for fun, but the more I know you and Ila, the more it applies.. What a poetic comment!I’d love to be in grade school,again compared to this upside down and vicious world.our kids have to grow up to now question if they really are a boy or a girl? I saw a group of 8 year olds walking the streets of Chicago and being shot at from a car? Women did not kil, their children either. Shhh! Not supposed to mention that! Hitler got his ideas for eugenics from the USA. Then came the Holocaust. Who are we? We kill millions of babies daily. Murderers are killers now let out of jail but a child cannot live? Are we the new Hitlers? Birth control is plentifhl and affordable. Think! Before taking a life! They are God,s creations, **love your last sentence** Pangie
