The Influence of Choice

“The Influence of Choice” by: Eric L. Boddie Roses are red Violets are blue If that’s your idea of poetry Then this ain’t for you For the life of an individual Consists of his soul, body and mind Making accounts of interactions with others And that’s all you will find As you flip through the pages And see the greatest hopes and dreams Not to mention the deepest pains and sorrows And all things in between For a mere instant of life Is unpredictable at best Because the influence of choice… And I don’t have to say the rest The power to choose And consequences do exist God or Satan, pretty or beautiful Heads or tails, the gun or fist Whichever you decide Leave no room for regret Because no matter what you put in In the end, that’s all you can get So be real and be content In all the things you do Because on the Day of Judgment Only your actions will represent you

A piece of homespun philosophy superbly rendered... 'Roses are red, violets are blue, a trite exposition for me and for you.' Well done Eric! Best wishes, Keith
