The Human Experience Since 1914

Ten word challenge
Words to be used:

1.Halcyon
2.Opulent
3.Jealousy
4.Visceral
5.Exuberant
6.Sonorous
7.Penumbra
8.Desultory
9.Cynical
10.Crepuscular

10 Lines only

HALCYON days of long ago, when OPULENT ones lived
without fear of JEALOUSY as all were richly satisfied
EXUBERANT joy was felt as all expected an even brighter future,
where everyone would enjoy abundant peace and security
Then suddenly, a SONOROUS chorus of evil nationalism swept the globe
as 1914 closed with VISCERAL feelings of fear mixed with national pride
Only a PENUMBRA of hope was left as CREPUSCULAR days of evil war
eclipsed any hope of lasting peace for humankind
Since then the human experience has been at best DESULTORY
leading to the CYNICAL feelings of disbelief that exist until today.
