The Great Beyond
She waits for me there
Just there, over there
Just beyond the tip of my outstretched arm
Just beyond the gaze of my mind’s eye
I see her, waiting for me, looking at me with those big blue eyes
Bluer than the sky, more infinite than space
I know if I could just be with her it would all be okay
If I could talk to her I would say all the right things
If I could touch her dark red skin, she would understand
And then the world would melt away as I melted into those big blue eyes
Somewhere in the great beyond.
But I cannot be with her
Because every time I try to touch her
I end up having to buy a new screen.
