The Food of Truth

In the Sacrament of the altar Lord meets us Men and women created in God’s image and likeness Becomes our companion along the way In this sacrament The Lord becomes food for us Satisfy our hunger for truth and freedom Father Christ becomes for us the food of truth, since only truth can make us free . With deep human insight St. Augustine clearly showed how we are moved spontaneously Not by constraint Whenever we encounter something attractive and desirable Asking himself, what it is that can move us most deeply? The saintly Bishop went on to say: “What does our soul desire more passionately than the truth?” Everyone of us has innate and irresponsible desire for ultimate and definitive truth, the Lord Jesus, “the way, and truth, and the life” Speaks to our thirsting, pilgrim hearts Hearts yearning for the source of life Hearts longing for truth Father Christ is the truth in person Drawing the world to Himself The Sacrament of the Eucharist Father Christ shows us in particular the truth about love The very essence of Eternal God It is evangelical truth which challenges each of us and our whole being The Church, which finds in the Eucharist the very center of her life Constantly, concerned to proclaim that Eternal God is love Father Christ has become for us the food of truth Church turns to every man Woman Inviting them freely To accept Eternal God’s gift Written: 2011 Poetry Form: Dramatic Monologue Copyright © Jacqueline R.
