The Flirt

Her tresses black as jet, eyes startling blue Her dress a silken gown of blushing pearl But never in doubt was my love for you So comely was she, such a charming girl Her dress a silken gown of blushing pearl Enticingly she simpered, young men sighed So comely was she, such a charming girl Her beauty rare could never be denied Enticingly she simpered, young men sighed Did not perceive her father’s cross concern Her beauty rare could never be denied At sixteen years she had a lot to learn Her tresses black as jet, eyes startling blue But never in doubt was my love for you A Pantoum. ( I think/hope)

This is so sweet, Margaret. Sweet sixteen... Oh how the world can take innocence on a spin. I think the traditions of days gone by when women married young and stayed true to their love would save a lot of pain... and maybe divorces (If families supported the young love.) But then, again, I always was a dreamer. Is this when you met your 50th Anniversary sweetheart? Love to you... Dane Ann

Love your pantoum, Margaret. It was a really fun read. Great words to portray the "simpering" young girl! So was your character in the poem another young woman competing with the other one in the poem? (I always want to know exactly what is what. haha) I hope you do more pantoums. It is a wonderful style! Thanks too for your comments to me, Luv, andrea
