The Fey Lead Us Into Fall
We are hidden in the thicket of giant maple and oak leaves.
There are dwarfs, faeries, gnomes and a tiny vole too.
Safe in the comfort of autumn’s bedding; hidden from predators
A squirrel hops past to collect an acorn.
Sweet silence surrounds us, as we lie in wait.
Anticipating the maneuvers of the mushroom people.
Sh! They will be along shortly; a pretty faerie says.
The rest of us smile, loving the unity of the little people.
The fey have a way about them that lends itself nicely to fall.
