The Fear In Night
Shadowed among the dim city
Lying awake, cellar rats,
Big eyed and frightened...
The fear in night.
Crested upon a stoop
Which no man can number,
Destined and determined
The fear in night.
Attacking and dirty
Perching and pouncing
Never answering to
The fear in night.
The lesson returns, no out,
Rodents coverge,
To strike never doubting
The fear in night.
Silent crying, before them there were no stops,
Tomorrow and for now alone,
Stifled, the fear in night.
