I have always had a vivid imagination,
as a child, I could make up stories in my head;
then, I began to write them down on paper,
but a story was too long, so poetry was the answer.
Now, even at night watching the moon,
I am taken away on a fantasy journey beyond;
especially, a full moon, so mysterious and soothing,
I let it take me until the birds are calling.
Sometimes, I stand on top of a mountain,
with a view of valleys and streams flowing below;
it is like I can touch the clouds, fly with the birds,
and in my trance, I let myself fall, fall, falling.
A river is roaring past me as I stand still,
among the towering trees, and I hear him coming;
a beautiful velvet brown horse running towards me,
he stops and I get on and away we gallop.
But, there are also things in the shadows,
things that frighten me and things lurking;
I must be careful in this dreamy infinite world,
for there are evil spirits waiting for my soul.
The darkest hour is just before dawn,
when I must fight my way back into reality;
I have a dreadful fear that one day, I will be lost,
in the depth of my imagination.
