The Day the Hornet Bit Me!

just back from boomin' .... lost my 'Oregon Hat' rang,
was only used 'ta "gentle pollinatin' bees"
how soon I forget!
late July, when the heat is on,
thick-shelled hornet larvae...
dries and flies!
I heard the buzz....zeroing in from above .... BAM! HIT IN THE HEAD!
a pointed ache begins to swell,
...... but I smile!
I've touched the earth
in
late July's heat!
I smile! ......
I've touched the earth
in
late July's heat! for consideration..... John Heck's 'summer celebration' contest

Made me smile. Although how anyone can smile after a hornets sting has my respect.

What a great attitude! Love your last two lines. Personally, I'd be crying like a baby, well sort of. I am terrified of those things! Awesome entry! Good luck! Love, Shar
