The Dark Winter Nights
The nights are fare drawing in
this a Scottish quote describing winter's coming
even when you know it's coming to you
you dread the thought filling one numbing
When the clocks change in October
these dark nights start early at five
there in late afternoon dark clouds descend
starting to wish for spring so to revive
Many reckon depression comes upon them
during these darkened times so deep
takes so long so to recover themselves
no wonder the Bible describes such lost sheep
The darkness these nights create
goes deep brings foreboding thoughts
one wants just to close their curtains
lock the outside world away so fraught
Nature in winter quite contrasting
turning grass to sharp keen frost
in the night stars look so bright
giving you a light never be lost
