I saw an add on telly about a child

they were asking for £3 to buy sensory toys. I was moved deeply

hence this poem to draw attention to children like him

The child sits in the sun drenched meadow appearing to stare very intensely afar, what captures the child's interest? Nothing that is obvious to any of us. He seems to be listening intently is it to the robin who is singing? The wind brushes across his skin and he shivers as it touches him. His mother quietly approaches gently takes his hand in hers. He clings tightly and nuzzles her drawing in her scent to his nostrils. The sad truth is that this child is both deaf and blind no sounds he hears and no pictures he sees. He is trapped in a silent world. And will never see his mothers face. yet he recognizes her scent he feels the wind on his skin.

This poem opens a window into the soul of the author and reveals a caring heart. Your words enter my mind, resonate there, and force me to feel their weight in the form of a tear. Well written Emile. #7.

Very touching, Shadow. We take so many things for granted, often forgetting those who lack what we have. Moved by your last stanza. #7 // paul

The imagery is beautiful , your words just painted it on canvas. We lose one sense, but we gain on the others. It's amazing what the human body compensates. I worked for 15 years with special needs children in teaching them to be able to use their other senses. It is amazing how intelligent, they are when you teach them and not spoil them. 7 hugs eve

to live with one sense lost is hard enough but to have to manage with two missing must be almost unbearable Eve hugs
