The Cardinal

In the springtime, what is that I hear? It's an aviary call sounding like "cheer, cheer, cheer". I use my binoculars to look up in a tree. Through the lenses, what a delightful sight I see! He's covered in feathers that are colored a bright red. A very intense shade from his tail to his head. Sights in the spring don't get any better than this. I don't even live in or near St. Louis.

Aaah, I love this. Especially the "St. Louis" bit. Only you could rhyme like this. I've been reading some of your poems this morning. Feels like old times, my friend! Love, Deb
