Wild eyed I wade through reflections,
as I unhook from the moon.
Branches become nets, become veins,
that drape from entangling limbs.
Harmless mistakes, underscored a hundredfold,
creating cracks in the Earth.
My feet still find the pond floor.
The water as dangerous as my thoughts -
yet I attempt to outrun consciousness' shivering path to darkness.
I don't rest on the bank.
I hunger for the uncluttered sky,
believe I've gone too far in the wrong direction,
lost all chance of an effortless existence.
The universe matches me step for step,
yet, fathomlessly, I repeat this dash again and again.
The broken surface spells out SOS,
my presence disrupts everything.
