The best brownies recipe
Best Brownies
1/2 a cup of butter (It makes the taste richer,
like the love we shared only days prior)
1 cup white sugar (white, like the dress I wore,
Like the shirt that clung to your frame)
2 eggs (A symbol of creation and birth,
Like the ache in my stomach as I smile at you)
1 table spoon Vanilla Extract (to sweeten the deal,
sweet like the day I met our son, who you never met)
1/2 s cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (dark and bitter,
the world you left behind when you fell asleep)
1 cup all purpose flower (you used to laugh,
when i knocked it everywhere and it covered my soft face)
1/4 tablespoon of salt (To cut the sweetness,
to make a rich life, like the one we should have had)
1/4 tablespoon of baking powder (so they raise,
We should have raised our son together)
Bake until gooey,
Serve at the wake I try to hold myself together for,
Bitter sweet and gentle,
Gooey and a flavour of home,
Home I should have shared with you,
Your wake,
The end of sweetness.
