The Beauty of Sadness Prevails

I tried to make you stay away from me, release you with remorse and say goodbye- for if you left at least you would be free, my love for you I’d stand there and deny. Because I crave your tender hands at night and know my sorrow pierced you like a nail, is why you should reprieve yourself from plight- for I am but a woman who is frail. Remember when we vowed to hold assures? I promised sunsets vibrant as our Lord. But this disease my mind begot obscures, and now the ugly cannot be ignored. So madness seized our love without regret- and sadness wearing beaut I shan’t forget. January 11, 2019

Congrats on your win, Lu Loo-- and I must admit, I'm not sure what to make of this poem, it's that powerful....

I had no idea how to write about a beautiful sadness, but you approached the topic creatively, Lu. Congratulations on your win in Brian's contest! Best wishes, Carolyn
