The American Nightmare
Cousins too cool to do what we used to do.
Uncles kiss the asses of their forebearers.
Aunts timidly stand aside as kids fight
Over who is wrong and who is right.
Siblings never care as much anymore.
Fathers don’t bother to understand their significant others.
Mothers no longer worry for their sons and daughters,
Especially when they have times in which they suffer.
Oh grandmother, what are we supposed to do with each other?
Oh grandfather, why do we pay dues when we aren’t good enough for you?
Relations are no longer what they used to be.
But one thing’s for sure: I’ll never let it happen ever again to me.
