~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The few times I’ve happened upon
A heart who I could understand, a soul
Someone who I felt a kinship with,
Like they were appreciative of my thoughts,
Accepting of my heart, considerate
And empathetic in ways that I can’t explain
Away…
It feels like springtime fresh, a breath of hope,
Summertime showers flowing like a serenity
Fading into the spirit – remembering the grace
Beneath those dancing leaves of autumn,
The solace inside a fire when winter snow silences
Even the moon and stars….
The few times I’ve known someone like you,
Someone who really knew me and someone
Who really understood me – those were times
When I felt like I could smile through the dark,
Embrace the fears and tears, invite the beautiful
Even when I wasn’t feeling completely steady
The few times when I met someone like you,
Were times that stand out in my heart, in my thoughts,
Times when I remember – like I remember hope,
That reassures and inspires, like a gentle promise –
Falling away from the shadows, reaching through
Doubts and believing –
This is one of those times that only God Himself
Could have written in my book, the one telling
The story of my life – a story where you are more than
Just a character… You’re even more important
Than the narrator… for you, my friend, are the story’s air!
