That Day of That Night

I spoke to my heart and my heart spoke back. I cried in my mind and heart took the crap. I lied to myself about the pain I did feel. My heart took control and refused to kneel. I sang to the night and only the moon and stars listened. I acknowledged what I must find to walk a straight line and made this my mission. I let the songs of my history play out in my soul and they blew out my mind. I became a man when I first loved you that day of that night The shadows of my mind squared up to the life I was supposed to do No more fool No more fool Though my heart could break a million times I never knew you could incenerate it on a whim of pride and judgement Like a lost runt kitten at the street grate scraping a sliver of food from the debris I remember the way you burned my soul in front of me I know what life is and I know how to feel I know where my heart lives and made it miles from your reach So you may cry for the past but not for me. You may lie to yourself so your mind can live free. But don’t dare look into the eyes of me because a living hate for your soul is what you’ll see.
