Take It From Me
As I measure the night
By my souls depth
Close to distilling my worth
The answer seemingly within my grasp
Dawn whispers in
Scattering my thoughts
Weariness becomes my heavy cloak
The night that stretched before me
Now too short for elucidation
Then I must wander the realm of day
Eyes forced open by the light
In an unquestioning state
Yet wishing to calculate exactly
How long a thought takes
Aware I alternate
Between traipsing the linear path
Not stopping long enough to think
Or looping the loop
Lost in a thought that has no beginning and no end
*The title is a subtle thank you, as I may have borrowed one line, with retrospective permission, from another poet
