Taenia Saginata – oh isn't that a pretty name If you find one in your burger it sure would be a shame Roundworms, flatworms and flukes can be found in beef, pork or fish Wouldn’t it be disgusting if you found one in your dish! Meat and fish need thorough cooking to kill these nasty beasts Then you are safe to eat and enjoy your fish or meaty treats I’m studying for a food safety qualification for work – this is one of the little gems I have been reading about! 4th June 2015

Hi Jan. Like this one. I used to love blue steak with garlic butter, Jersey Royals, asparagus and a glass or two or .... of Rioja. And for sweet my favourite was Sticky Toffee Pudding but after the wine I have to be careful about a spoonerism here. After one meal like this I suffered from Campylobacter which nearly killed me. Now I try to be vegetarian but then the smell of a bacon butty keeps pulling me back. Tony x

This is informative and important. Raw meat is dangerous, though many are those who eat it after it has been salted. Now-a-days I do not eat red meat; I prefer chicken or fish...cooked! Hugs // paul

It is always a concern of mine to know that my meat is thoroughly cooked..I tell them if I get steak on occasion to burn it..LOL..If for a contest reads like a winner..They say that liver flukes are in fish and I would think that one could die from getting an infectation of them..So why would a person even think about eating raw fish?..Thanks for stopping by..Sara

I love British fish and chips only have it here rarely - is that what you mean - battered fish or is fried fish something different? Hugs jan xx

There is no chance of me getting this, Jan. I despise pork and only eat VERY WEll cooked beef. In fact, I enjoy mine burned almost!!

It has been such an eye opener Andrea - a lot of the course info is commons sense - and we do things automatically - think i will live on bottled water from now on lol:-) Hugs jan xx

That is a weird looking little creature. But I suppose it thinks we are weird looking big creatures. It pays to be careful about what and where you eat. Good luck with your work - and with your poetry. Good show! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

I have learned so much about food storage and preparation - we do so much as a matter of course but the implications of not following the rules can be dire - what a nasty little beasty i found to write about:-( hugs jan xx

And THAT's why I'm vegetarian. Oh...can't stand the thought of eating meat. It turns my stomach. What we eat was once a liing walking breathing animal. Why do they need to be buried in our stomachs? I know...Sorry all you meat eaters, but....I can't stand the thought of it. Thanks, Jan....for showing what CAN be in meat! Thinking of going vegan.... ;) Recently gone off eggs. Next hurdle...dairy products. Hugs

Yikes, Jan...even dead ones from thorough cooking does not appeal to me! I personally prefer veggie dishes! Then again, there was a worm in my granddaughter's salad the other day! Thanks for the info...or not :( Hugs, Sandra

A lot of the course is common sense stuff Harry, but when you see this little gem and the illnesses caused by poor food hygiene it makes me think twice about where I dine out! Hugs Jan xx

Jan, I think it was WC Fields who was asked if he liked children. He replied (and I paraphrase) "They're not bad if properly cooked"

LOL I agree John - the other answer I have heard to that is is 'I do, but I can never eat a whole one' the course I am taking isn't essential in my job but I was given the chance to do it in my own time ... I may learn the perfect way to 'roast' a student:-) Hugs Jan xx
