Symmetry (from Ancient Greek συμμετρ?α (summetría) is defined as agreement in dimensions, due proportion. In everyday language symmetry refers to a sense of harmonious and beautiful proportion and balance. An object is said to have symmetry if it can be divided into two identical halves.
an apple, a peach, and a pear
a butterfly and a beetle
a mandolin, a fiddle, a circle, and a square
a kite, a star, a planet
a honeycomb and a sunflower
a symphony, a lyre, a triangle, and a gamut
the Taj Mahal, the Egyptian pyramids, DaVinci’s Last Supper
DNA and the Milky Way galaxy
the moon, crop circles, and the mother earth
Now I ponder, “Is all in the natural world symmetrical in some way shape or form? What about the symmetry of the pyramids and DaVinci's Last Supper? Do we humans desire symmetry at a deeper level when seeking balance in our lives? Does symmetry somehow bring us closer to the Divine?"
