Swat the Hate- Hate Bug

Hatred is simply a fractious bug on the brain,
which doesn't always wash away with the rain
Neither the rain of love nor that of homily

But if you solemnly profess belief
in the God right above
let this even to atheists be a relief
that God only means love
for no religion preaches hatred to man or family

The wronged wishing to be placated
The tortured wishing to be avenged
Embittered humans provoked to evil hatred,
forgetting we are all but Adam's progeny, one kindred
Alas, hatred's a scenario that so costs humanity

Most of us are tired of hearing
of this cause and effect' circle of violence and repercussion
Why wilfully make yourself a target and fall in lasting perdition?

We don't wanna hear the hate crimes is a virus
that has no earthly cure
Since compassion is a vaccine to
prevent it for sure

Yet some might think this is easy to sing and easy to say
Gosh, but don't the world need
more die-hard supporters of peace till judgement day?

Keep the peace and spread it.!!
Do your bit, come use your wit.
Swat and squash the hate bug from your mind and heart
Promote love and compassion even with words and art

Don't burn the bridges,
rather mend the fences
Don't view each other
with hatred's lenses!

Thanks for offering a higher path that more befits the dignity of man. On the back of a three-wheeled cab I once saw a small sign that stated: “Anger is brief madness.” I often found peace in the chaos of India.

beautiful. I knew you were such a person: grace, faith, hope, charity, and forgiveness. Those that preach it often, are most often greedy recipients of forgiveness, while dispensing HATE to all & sundry. Even this we must forgive. I love you and your spirit Zainab

Hmm your comment has confusing implications which can be misunderstood. Because you are perhaps unwittingly, implying that those who preach forgiveness, love, dispense hate to all and sundry????? Please clarify. Thanks for liking the spirit of the poem though, . Thanks .

I absolutely love reading this wonderful poem of yours, it was a wonderful poem and the last line beautifully sums up the whole purpose of your writing, I just hope that everyone get rid of this bug known as hatred and lives a life full of compassion and love. You can't even imagine how beautiful that world shall be, one unaware of what jealousy or hatred even feels like, one in which we all are one under the name of humans. Anyways thanks for reading my poem, good luck and have a nice day

I agree with all but your last line. I believe love and compassion and words and art can coincide beautifully together. (I know that you mean hateful words and not loving words.) The written word and beautiful art may contain symbiotic peace and love depending on the artist or the poet. We indeed are all connected and need to remember that before we condemn others. I enjoyed your lovely poem S.K. Aloha, Connie xxoo

I think my last line is misunderstood to be the opposite of my intention l I clearly meant we should promote love and compassion with' words and art. Poetry can help unite and bring peace to the world indeed. So I edited it for clarity.Hope that clears the misunderstanding, warmest thanks for siding and supporting peace and compassion.

Zaynab, hate is a cancer in the soul and it hurts the person who feels it the most. I refuse to let it take root in me, no matter what is done, I will not become the person who hurt me and I have been hurt many times. My father used to tell me when I would come home crying, "never let your enemies know that they have hurt you". Great poem and very thought provoking ~

Hate is an evil that, allows those who are blind to it, see more clearly that it is something that they do not have, and will appreciate to know that, it will also allow those who have hate in them, see more clearly that it is evil, and hopefully, they will have a change in heart to better themselves to rid the hate and begin to love again, Aloha William

The media pushes hate. Most people in the public I come across are nice. There are exceptions. Nevertheless, we must all add to the kindness factor to spur it on to humanity! Nicely said.

Yes thanks God majority don't act with hate as God created for love but some defy that purpose. Yes we should add to the kindness in the world in our way, warmest thanks for your comment and thoughts on this.
