Suspended Above
on empty limbs
the raven sits
watching
as the leaves fly by
on the wings
of winds
sorrows
of yesterday
tossed about
then grounded
the vultures
above
encircling me
through
ashen skies
as if i am
their prey
today
my thoughts
swaying
like the bough
of trees
then snapping
back
to reality
i'm not ready
to surrender
this journey
of life
regardless
of the shackles
that weigh
me down
i watch
as they scatter
in darker corners
as dawn breaks
across the seams
of a new day
i smile
even
if in
uncertainty
