Surface Dreams
I would rather not let you see
all the content of my brain,
just the surface parts that gleam like a coiling snake
digesting itself,
you can imagine,
I feel the same way about yours.
Show me your feet, and I will show you my hands,
we will paint them with words
to describe the rest of us,
then print out our dreams on the space between us.
What I mean to say is:
brains need that kind of image-making,
otherwise two luminous jellyfish such as we
would never find each other
in the deep dark ocean.
