I Am A Sunflower

With loving care, like a mother, you placed me on God's kissed Earth, You sprinkled me with Nature's drops, you fed and gave me worth. You were the torch that shone alone, mothered green stalks in ascendance, You watched over my development, as I struggled free of your dependence. Now, I flower in beauty, my roots firmly secure, I turn my love to where it's stood, Your smile of reassurance , drops cascade like tears, for love, misunderstood . I open and offer up my loving nectar, to the sun and the humming birds, I cradle the silent beauty of butterflies, with petals open proud and wide, I sing my silent melodies to you as the sun elopes before our eyes, And wake in the shadows of oak trees, as I thirst for summer's skies. I am the seed of love and kindness, a sunflower, a source of pride and joy, Our love is unconditional, together now and always , for Nature to enjoy.

Your positive attitude is exposed in this tribute to a child as a flower, offering yourself to feed the bees and butterflies...the "seed of love and kindness..." so should we all be willing to offer ourselves in that manner to those in need. You're a giver, Daniel.

Hi Lin , many thanks again , yes I tried to write this poem from the perspective of a child , I thought of her as my own child, as she developed and matured throughout her journey to an adult . Thanks once again for your kind words . Daniel

Hello Daniel, What a touching ode to maternal care and growth. It beautifully captures the cycle of nurturing and independence, symbolized by the sunflower's journey. The imagery of nature's beauty and the bond between mother and flower is vividly portrayed. Your poem just radiates warmth and gratitude, celebrating the interconnectedness of life. Excellent! - Blessings, Daniel

I assume this is for the flower personification contest. If so, your poem is certainly a great contender. You evoked several senses as you captured the sunflower's words. I loved 'I sing my silent melodies to you as the sun elopes from our eyes." Stunning and eloquent are the words I used to describe your poem. Best wishes with the contest, Sara

Hi Sara , many thanks for such kind words , yes I wrote this for the contest this morning , I tried to do it from the eyes of a newborn child and mother , but it's difficult when you have to include birds bees and butterflies . A little different to my previous poem lol Daniel
