Sunflower
I treated the soil I planted four packets of seeds
But only one small yet dazzling Sunflower bloomed
Amidst the most ugly weeds I have ever seen
The sunflower opening so elegantly and proudly
As if a diamond surrounded by cubic zirconias
For its yellow embellished the hues of the ugly weed
Which in comparison was nearly as tall I speak to
The sunflower on my morning and afternoon jaunt
With the dogs, it’s once crippled petals now fully
Spread all of maybe four inches in diameter.
Nothing compared to its six foot height which is
Amazing considering the drought we are having
Such a splendid beautiful addition to my garden
Mother Nature has blessed me with, a single glorious
Sunflower amidst a wasteland of barbaric weeds.
