The summer solstice brings the sizzling sun to squeeze the sweat completely from all pores and bake the back and arms of anyone who seeks to spend a bit of time outdoors. The summer solstice brings the crickets’ song to fashion a warm night’s romantic tryst. The heat of day comes with the rising dawn as light rain drowns the hot in cooling mist. The summer solstice varies in degree from tepid, humid, hot or just plain stifling but when it reaches one hundred and three a body soon feels overwhelmed and trifling. The summer's heat will reign until the Fall with furnace fingers touching on us all. 6/2/2020

Sounds like you live in a very hot climate, Janis! I know that heat, but only rarely does it get up into triple digits here in San Diego. We don't have A/C in the house because the weather is usually temperate but about a week or two every year we wish we had that luxury! Great sonnet, with excellent rhythm and word choices. I'm looking forward to reading more sonnets of yours. Take care, my friend ~ John
