Summer Solitude
Below my windowpane,
I gaze at the old branches
of the cherry blossom tree
where the birds
used to perch
last spring.
The tree branches~
now devoid of colours
but still hold the twigs
where buds and blooms
used to cling.
I open my window
yet the cool breeze
can't appease
my thirsty skin.
The leaden longing lingers
like a melancholic melody~
from long ago.
And as I see sparrows
perching once again
in that old branch~
I sigh a whisper,
"You may not find me,
but I hope this poem
finds you".
