Summer, So Soon Surrendering
Must summer leave so soon, I bemoan.
So briefly she seemed to last this year.
Golden days gone, merely moments flown.
With no warning, Autumn nudges near.
Yes, I'll miss her bountiful blossoms
perfume pretending as balmy breeze.
Baby blue skies, sunsets' fevered flames,
gentle whispers among dappled leaves.
I know Autumn has her own blessings:
leaves of amber, gold, and ruby red.
Yet, they soon spill, leaving lonely limbs,
and we'll know winter is just ahead.
I've never longed for Winter's weather,
Just jasmine skies and a sunshine day,
raindrop music on wistful willows.
Ah, lovely Summer, why can't you stay?
