Summer Heat
The sky wears the sun high
Heat and light a constant flow
The earth parched, the sun now feeds
The air so still, playing hot and dead
Like burning coal strewn everywhere
The grass catching light, stems on fire
Flickering flames under my feet
The heat spreading, O so fast
Sweat pouring my eyes downcast
Brewing in this summer cask!
White butterflies bleached by the sun
Flittering around having fun
The sun departing with a glare
But I am too hot to even care!
