Summer Days
Summer days
Growing up in Trinidad
We just know one season
That was the raining one
Bet you want to know the reason
In Trinidad the sun’s hot
Through our the year
And you don’t have seasons
Like it has over here
Trinidad’s climates comes from
The northeast’s trade winds.
And will be cool and dry
Until the rainy months begins
The times we go camping
From November to May
Then comes the crop time
That’s when rain falls everyday
That’s why in Trinidad
Summer we don’t say
Have hot sun for nine months
Every single day
But here in America
You get old so very fast
Because as a season comes
You just want it to past
When it’s the summer
We do find it very hot
The stoves are cold
Nobody putting up a pot
And when its winter
It will be so very cold
No matter how you dress
Will freeze in your soul
Then the spring comes
And it rains every day
U stays in side your home
Don’t want to go out to play
The season I love
The most is the fall
It’s when the place is so cool
Don’t want it to go at all
One time in Trinidad
Some people say it snow
But it was dense fog
And they did not really know
A girl who work with me
From down wood land
Says a taxi driver tell her so
But we can’t laugh at the man
The reason I write this
My friend ask what’s summer
Like back in Trinidad
So I’m trying to explain to her
Because one day soon
She coming for a trini holiday
And I bet she will say LOL
What a beautiful summer day
