Summer Break Never Lasts--Collaboration
i am up early again
stirring thoughts with coffee
as the hummingbirds drink
sugary treats beneath the rise of sun
just a few more weeks
before those early morning commutes
in that unreasonable flow of traffic
unyielding, demanding
crimson glows of brakes
that mirror the rise of sun
as it blushes across the folds of sky
in an array of pink and red hues
my tired eyes were trying to focus
on its never ending line
beneath the spills of day
yet today i bask in the warmth
beneath the prismatic wisps of wings
knowing that was then and this is now
i savor the moments within this day
