Summer
Nostalgic memories of having root beer floats with my grandmother
While Sitting on her steps scents of lilacs and peony’s waft through the air
Watching fuzzy caterpillars, mosquitoes and grasshoppers that are near
Feeling the warm sunshine on my body, and the breeze tickle my nose
Precious moments of joy frozen in time with no worries about tomorrow
listening to nighttime peepers and watching for fireflies to appear
carnival sounds in the distance of inviting fair rides and booths
Fried dough and cotton candy will forever be pleasures of my youth
