A cup of sugar borrowed from a neighbor... One that I have never met before. Will they even answer the door? What should I say? In that single open possibility... that one chance... that first breath that we will share together? It can mean the world, or an end to everything further? We are all... gambling on tomorrow to be a better day. It is the only way, that we can hope to be... larger than ourselves. How far is the land of joy? How distant is happiness? Why do we treat each other less than we expect to be treated? Why not instead... try to do more, than ever before... to live as one in peace?

I've read several poems about peace in the last few weeks Ann. It must be something in the air. The golden rule applies, and I think many have forgotten it. Thanks for the reminder. Nicely written free verse! :)

Dear Ann, your poem questions personal interaction and human behavior in the most poetic way. Such a thought-provoking piece so beautifully, intimately expressed engaging both the heart and mind. I especially liked "What should I say?/In that single open possibility.../that one chance.../that first breath/that we will share/together?" - wow! Intimate indeed and such a great pearl to ponder upon. Superb poetry! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

It was a smooth move and progression. I'm sure it doesn't mean too much to ask, it probably would have created an avenue to get familiar, however asking on the first visit isn't too nice. But in the end, kindness is all that matters. We should treat people how we want to be treated.

Dear Ann, your musings on a simple act like borrowing sugar blossom into a deep meditation on human connection, hope, and our universal yearning for more. I loved your verses as they capture how even fleeting encounters hold vast potential for meaning. You inspire self-reflection on spreading more kindness and unity. This piece overflows with insightful wisdom and a call to live life more compassionately. A brilliant gem that uplifts the spirit! - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel
