What a shame - in some countries throughout the world, women are still second class citizens. Great poem Paul and congratulations on your fine win. Warm regards and hugs, Jennifer.

Thanks for your secret but I will likely just keep wearing wrinkled clothes! I don't even have time for ironing and in America, I think hardly anyone does it anymore. Back with my congrats, Paul, and I hope to see new poems from you soon.

:) Well, many clothes are drip-dry, so....Also, if you leave some cocoa and cookies on a plate, you might attract elves who'll reciprocate by doing your ironing! Thank you for visiting. I think you might be lucky; posted one yesterday :) Regards // paul

Dear Paul, your heartbreaking poem expresses a sad reality of how a subjugated woman's life can be. Your last gripping line pierces my heart, such is the poignant power of your gifted pen. Congratulations for your wonderful win in Eve's contest. Warmest wishes and hugs always, my inspiring friend.. ~Susan

The secret is to originally start ironing with one of those heavy metal irons which you had to heat on a stove:) .. and never concentrate hard on what you're doing..think of something else, and in no time at all you'll realize that your work is done! :) :)

Hi Paul, This is a good take on the contest theme. The chosen photo inspired you to write about a time when women were treated like slaves in a way. Abuse of any kind is wrong. Best wishes in the contest. I hope you had a safe and good Thanks Giving with your loved ones. Have a great day my friend- Alexis

A whole story of a long period where hearts and minds of both men and women are filled with ideas, prejudices, stereotypes that badly marked humanity.. It is so harsh, painful and degrading when a human being is reduced to nothing.. not even a cherished object! Great display of great worth! In a few expressive words you have presented a lot of the state of woman who was denied the worth to be treated like a human being.. I'm so happy to read your profound and wonderful poetry, Paul. Best regards

yes, seeing this poor woman ironing made me feel blue. You captured its essence all right. when I try to iron, I can't even get wrinkles out. I have no clue how my mom was able to do it, yet I cannot.

You need the knack for it, Andrea :) My mum taught all us siblings how to cook, wash and iron. She used to say that if we ever ended on our own, we'd have no problem coping! ~ Regards // paul
