Street Lamps

Choose A Topic - Poetry Contest CHOOSE A TOPIC: A, B, C, or D I chose subject B I wrote this poem on 7/17/2017 The light from street lamps glistens softly o’er the snow as I walk finding my room’s stay. Apartment buildings line the street once more, dark shapes along a lonesome street called Stray. For many weeks all I have known is wine since she first gave to me her bitter note. All life’s lost reason, great God, I’m not fine, and changing address won’t erase words wrote. Drink, take from me this pain that slices deep a never ending ache that I endure. Cloud my sick mind this passing night and keep her face away and anger so impure. Love holds a danger like a thorny rose, such beauty gained, such painful sores dispose.
