Strange Things
Of the most unusual things I have seen,
are flowers in bloom in Fall, not spring;
dogs catching popcorn between their teeth,
a parakeet eating a bite of roast beef.
A horse, wearing polka dots,
a skunk riding upon a fox,
a dolphin fin-walking, on a dock,
snow on a spring equinox.
Last night when I looked up at the moon,
I nearly fell into a swoon;
a fairy on an owl, there flew,
it’s like being in a cartoon.
She smiled at me and gently waved,
I stood there watching, oh so brave;
like an enchanted idiot, I caved,
and right back at her, I did wave.
