still silence cool air of june.... whip-poor-will's nap ends tree frogs' high pitched voice joins in reverberating, wakes dawn

Congratulations on your win Sara! This is a fun treat for the senses! We don't have whip-poor-wills, nor frogs where I live now. It brought back early and sweet childhood memories, thank you! :-)

BJ, I can't imagine surviving in a desert but apparently you do. Some frogs and toads give off a slim when threatened so an animal will drop them instead of eating them. I found out there is one kind in Georgia that can kill other frogs/toads and can make a dog sick. I don't go out looking for them but tree frogs used to be so bad here because we had a pool that they loved. LOL.. Sara

I live in a desert, but we do get toads during the monsoon season which skipped us last year and so even the toads are probably not doing too well. They burrow in the ground till they come out during rainy season (which is slim). They are also poisonous so we have to keep our eyes on our pets when they do appear!

BJ, Thanks for dropping by with congrats. I wonder where you live with no frogs. I have heard that in Alaska there are none. I know whip-poor-wills are not everywhere though. I am glad it brought back memories that are pleasant. Sara

Mystic, He was also a comedian. He did a wide variety of music plus he was a composer. LOL..I did not like his jazz. Sometimes the symphony of the tree frogs sounds like jazz. Thanks for your visit. Sara
