State of Serenity - Night Silence Contest
I lie here in a state of serenity
troubles wash over my head
mind and body relaxed .....
eyes closed ...oh what joy,
heaven must be here on earth.
drifting into superficial slumber,
mentally alert, to the noises of the house
as it wriggles itself into a comfortable place
making creaking noise, was concerned,
used to think I had mice
i stir myself to peep out of the window
The night sky is like a garden full of gloworms
twinkling in unison.... makes me smile.....
vapour trails make interesting patterns in the sky
like an artist with hiccups, lines going everywhere.
then there is the moon, smiling down on the earth below
it's soft and gentle light some people use as their candle.
in the softness of sound an owl hoots his presence
listen to the flutter of wings, the bats are awake,
flying low, grabbing at insects on the wing .
stand at your window watch your garden come alive
mrs hedgehog out looking for juicy worms or the dogs left overs.
scurrying mice just looking, family of slugs slip sliding everywhere.
with a heart full of happiness you can then slip back under the covers
sleep now, it will all be there again tomorrow
