Moonstone or Stardust Contest hosted by Ink Empress

                         November 8, 2024

Can you hear a stardust song woven within the wind? ~ by poet Stars awaken from daily slumber within the Milky Way to shine in the enormous expanse of Jet blackened skies. Each cosmic constellation radiates from heaven's height, knowingly winking at each other creating specks of stardust. Descending like snowflakes; or as tiny dew drops, they fall as if they were tears being shed for their reverential task. They've been chosen to accompany elder deciduous leaves upon their journey's end, a privilege stardust takes seriously. Some of the scattered particles are from long perished stars who've been patiently waiting their turn for nature to call. When it arrives, they bid fond farewell to their celestial home. Earthbound they float, gathered in glittering showers. Glimmering as if gilded in the golden glow of moonlight. Stardust falls on mature leaves in the midst of chilled nights. In forests and Copses, they land on limbs of maples and elms, partnering with leaves whose time has come for a final swirl. They waltz as the wind hums the melody of their swan song. Softly they flutter to the ground, tenderly settling down... Clinging to the wrinkled veins of crimson sugar maple leaves, and soothing the tattered russet foliage of time weathered elms. Above, an Amythyst moon smiles on their compassionate dance as Autumn leaves and stardust, lie shrouded in each other's arms. Woefully, narrating their story has me lamenting the loss of both.

Lin, within the beauty of your words there is a winsome grieving for the loss of autumn color and beauty. I always love your uniquely crafted images and poetic pictures. Congratulations on your win! Blessings.

Dear Lin Lane, First of all your quote really caught my eyes, and i was in awe, captivated and intrigued to read more, youv shown autumn through your words for me, and i love autumn, its like youv painted this whole image through words, woven in such a feminine and delicate manner which resonates with me, i especially love the ending, and ofcourse i love the descriptive diction and alliterations too! Youv made it all flow in such a seamless manner, which really is impressive! Congratulations on your top win, this was a difficult contest to judge but this one is worthy of all the accolades! Sending you light

I've been remiss with thanking you for my placement in your contest, Ink. Please forgive me. I'm really delighted you thought enough of it to earn the recognition you so graciously have given it.

I think this one will be right up Inks Street Lin, it has all the trappings of a well thought out poem with superb imagery throughout, (Some of the scattered particles are from long perished stars) and indeed some of them are when light changes from a wave into a particle upon contact with an object, beautiful intelligent poem, cheers David

It never ceases to amaze me how some poets can tap into the science of how the cosmos and reality works, even if they don’t fully realise the mechanics behind it, there is a source out there somewhere, and poets instinctively draw on its presence when writing, just like you do in this fine piece!

This is a delight to the senses, an enchanting piece. I wanted to write a poem about autumn, but I couldn't. Living in a tropical country and never having traveled abroad, my experience of this season--seeing pictures, watching it in films, etc.--is simply inadequate. Very well-written. Thank you, Lin.

Thank you very much for your thoughts, Ryan. I live in the deep south, so I don't get a lot of autumn leaves changing colors, but I see them in my mind's eye. Close your eyes and see them fluttering in the wind.

Thank you, Jan. I started writing this a few says ago, but there is such a lackluster vibe on the site lately that I've been falling short of any interest in reading or posting. Hopefully, a rejuvenation will take place.
